Above is a picture of our youngest Bird Steward John Brice receiving congratulations and gifts from Eric Draper, Executive Director of Audubon Florida. John was chosen as one of the conservation-minded youngsters featured in an up-coming "Audubon Adventures" magazine which goes to about 4500 classrooms nationwide.
John has been birding for half his life, four of his eight years, with his grandma Peggy Cook. His Bird Steward vest used to trail in the water when he waded! Right now he's planning a class presentation on birds, and he calls Peggy with a morning bird report from the car on the way to school. When his teacher says to get out something to read, John pulls out a field guide!
What a great kid! Congratulations to his parents Gary and Stephanie, pictured from left with Aunt Jane, grandmother Peggy, and Eric Draper. Somebody's doing a really good job with this young fellow. Thanks for letting us enjoy him too.
